What you can learn
The same content is not applied to everyone. The course is built from the target school and the student’s own situation. Admission is not guaranteed; what this supports is the making and the preparation an application needs.
- Drawing fundamentalsProportion, light and shade, volume, composition, texture. The ground an examiner is looking at.
- Observational skillWhat to look at, and in what order. Once this gets quicker, so does everything made under time.
- Making finished workTaken to a state you could submit, matched to the school and the field.
- Preparing for set tasksSchools set different things. We check what each has asked for before shaping the practice.
- Talking through the pathWorking back from the exam date to decide what gets finished when.
How the preparation works
Finding where a student is actually stuck comes before piling on more assignments.
- I don’t know where I stand.
- We start by looking at your current work. The sooner you know where you are, the more of the remaining time you can use.
- I can’t get the shape right.
- We fix the order you look in and how you measure. The cause is usually before the pencil moves.
- I don’t understand shading.
- We sort out the direction of the light and of each surface, then build the tone in stages.
- I can’t settle on a direction for the piece.
- We check what the school’s task is actually looking for, then decide how to choose.
- I’m anxious about the run-up to the exam.
- We work backward from the date and decide what this month and next look like. Holding a pace is part of the preparation.
